YOUR CAREER AS A
LOG SCALER

The job of a log scaler is to measure and ticket lorry loads of logs, usually at checkpoints as the logs enter the port. The log scaler manually “scales” or measures each log using an international standard, then barcodes the log and scans it into a database so that every single export log can be tracked wherever it is.

You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and preferably hold a full Class 1 licence. No qualifications are required at entry, but log-scaling is a NZQA accredited job with a structured training programme and qualifications as you gain experience.
