LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY
People working in logistics and supply deal with the movement of logs between the harvesting site and the market. The job involves ensuring smooth operation and quality control of log flows from the forest, through transport and then delivery to the buyer/agent. The role is a critical part of the log supply chain and duties could include:
- regular communication with harvesting managers and contractors
- analysis of daily, weekly and monthly log flows
- liaison with transport operators
- liaison with different buyers
- good decision making, problem solving and judgement.

Absence from home
No specific qualifications are required, but this role requires a great deal of project management, sound decision making, and a good working relationship with contractors. Good spreadsheet and data management skills will also be needed. This can be a high-pressure role, requiring adaptability and good problem-solving skills.
A good knowledge of harvesting operations and the whole forestry supply chain is essential for this role.
